Hi Tommy, surprisingly Meals on Wheels went well,we were lucky that on our turn to deliver the snow had started to melt, only on one road did I do the Flamingo with the car but managed to get it sorted, the wind had a chill factor of minus 8 so we were glad to finish and get home.We had snow again in Haverhill last night,at least 6/8inches but it is now melting leaving that lovely SLUSH.
I must mention, the top photo of Joan and I was taken at the Ritz Hotel,we were celebrating Joan,s 70th birthday. The day before our daughter came home from work and said to us, here is your itinery for tomorrow(Joans birthday). It read as follows.
9am Taken by chauffeur driven limosine from Haverhill to London.
11.30 Tea at the Ritz
2pm An afternoon stage show at the Old Vic theatre.
5.30 Return journey back to Haverhill by the chauffeur driven limosine.
It was a fantastic day,tea at 11.30!thats what the Ritz like to call it,Salmon and Cucumber sandwiches, egg mayonaisse, ham and tomato, and the nicest and scrumptious cream and chocolate cakes you can only dream of.All of the family clubbed together to pay for this wonderful day,and all I can say is I hope Joan is 70 again this year.

Oh! George what on earth is that dark stuff hanging down from under your shorts. Please Please tell me they are not NBKs. And you have done it now, you will soon have Yvonne telling you,you are cute.

It was a lucky day for George when his his mum and dad moved next door to yours Joan. I will look forward to seeing you next year, if not before.

No Jim, they are not NBKs just a touch of shadows, and I know I am cute and Yvonne as always thought me cute,as cute as a goldfish or any other animal!!!.It would be nice to see you again, the last time I remember seeing your family was when your mum moved you all to Westcott Cresent, we had moved from Brants Walk to this end of Browning Ave, did you make the move with them?I just cannot remember seeing you at that time,It must be all of 60/65 yrs since we last met, plenty to talk about I would say.As for me being lucky when we moved to Browning Ave luck did not come into it,it was womans devious minds and "I am going to have"thinking that got me hooked to the girl next door,Joan as told me more than once "when I saw you in your R A F uniform I told myself YOUR MINE".I am glad she did,as she is so very nice.Tommy if we won the lottery our first move would be an extended holiday to N.Z.wonderful people and a wonderful country.I certainly would not move from our house in Haverhill where all our friends are,and most of all, I would not leave this good old England in my opinion, the best country in the world.I will stop now I seemed to have got carried away.

George I am so glad you are happy with your home in England,I think most folks feel that way, for me I have been gone so long 47 years that the U S has become my home and I could not live any where else. When I come home to the U.K. I no longer remember most of the places that are still in my mind from my early years ,I left when I was 24 years old.Good on you George so glad you are back on the site.

Tommy, you mention you have been away for 47yrs that is a long time, but then you say "when I come HOME" I know what you mean

Like they say George, you can take the man out of the Estate. but you can't take the Estate out of the man.

Very well said Jim.A big part of that estate lives in all of us,that is why we come to this site everyday to reminice about the past and enjoy talking to folks about where they have ended up on their journeys after leaving the estate.Lets keep it up.We must be doing something right.
