Does anyone remember the 8th Hanwell Scouts.at St Christophers. run by the head scoutmaster Father Walker. Well I joined it when I was 11years old only to get the free holidays.
I remember one time we went to Eastbourne. One of the boys a chap called Russell he lived above the shops on the poor side I mean our side. Anyway getting back to the story. He did somthing wrong I can not remember what he did. The comendant Father Walker. Had him tied down on the grass (legs & arms spread eagled and staked to the ground style. When he went out, we let him go.
Well that same day we found a bomb, and outside the comendants tent was a fire. So when he came back and went into his tent, we put the bomb into the fire and waited about ten minites. Then shouted out "Father Walker!" Well he came out, but nothing happend. So we legged it. We bumped into one of his understudies and told him there was bomb in his fire. He run back and told the vicar what we had done. He was shocked; He never did anything like that again. The bomb was a dud.
Another time we went to a place called Buxted, the farmer had a landing craft in his lake. He took us out on it. That night around the camp fire they told us a story about the chap with a golden arm. I wont go into the rest of the story. Just to say it scared the living day lights out of us.
Just after that he said all those going to the toilet follow me. Well we all got to the toilet all right, then he and his mate left us in the middle of the woods.
All we could hear was this voice saying "who's got my golden arm." Well I've never liked the dark, after that but I swear I would get him if it was the last thing I did.
I found out he was sweet on the farmers daugther, So I followed him. They got into the landing craft which was tied to the bank. So when they was kissing and cudderling I untied the boat and it drifted out into the middle of the lake(with a little push from me). When the farmer came along and said to me have you seen my daughter.I pointed to his craft and said I think she is on that. He had to get another boat and go and get it. We all left early. I wonder why?
Revenge, He never did find out who untied the boat. Mined you we did have some good times.
