Do you remember Clothing coupons

When I was staying with an aunt in Letchworth during the war my mother worked at the Spirella factory there. It usually made corsets but, because of the war, produced parachutes. My mum eked out the clothing coupons by making shirts and blouses from the off-cuts of silk which were left over. You could always tell which of the kids at school also had mum's that worked there. By the way all the coupons inside the book are intact,my mum did not have the money to use them.
Regards to all,Pete Jordan.

We used to go to the in and out shop in Greenford to get the coupon clothing, I remember the childrens cloths hanging from the rails under the awning outside the shop, I know somewhere in the archive photo box is a picture of Sally my sister and Jeff my brother in the new clothes, see if I can find it.

Grace I used to love playing cat's cradle. Like you I would love to play it now. I will have to try my grandchildren on it if I can get them away from computer games.
Perhaps we could play it at the reunion!!!!!!

Grace since our conversation I had a yen to do some knitting again, so I have bought some wool, found all my old needles and patterns, and started a white jumper for when I go to bowls. My grand daughters were fascinated but my son took the mick! The dog just tries to nick the wool.
Haven't knitted for years and years but I'm enjoying it again. Might try a shawl and a mob cap next!

I can just imagine Val in both of those, a photo of that would look good in our archive. I had a Phone call the other day from the Temperance Society asking if any more of our members had a problem with drink and singing rude songs. I said no only her, so the rest of you can relax.
