Sometime this year, we taxpayers may again receive an Economic Stimulus payment.

This is a very exciting new program. I will explain it using the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q.. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:

* If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China .
* If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.
* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India .
* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala .
* If you buy a car, it will go to Japan .
* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .
* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

1 spending it at yard sales, or
2 going to ball games, or
3 spending it on prostitutes, or
4 beer or
5 tattoos.

(These are the only American businesses still operating in the US .)

***
I'm going to go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that I met at a yard sale, and drink beer! Yay

Geo and I are off to Lake Atlin in British Columbia Canada for a weeks holiday tomorrow.
Met a Canadian cousin and his wife who came to visit on a cruise ship this morning. Never have met up with him before, and we all had a delightful time. Geo and I showed them around our town and also included a tour of the Mendenhall Glacier. We then had a quick brunch before they had to get back on the ship. His father was my father's oldest brother (actually half brother)who was shipped off to Canada around 1911 This happened to many of London's poor kids and orphans, they were shipped off to a new life in Canada or Australia to work on farms. Any way it was really interesting to swap information about each others families and get caught up on all the years that we have not known of each other's existance. I found him while researching my geneology. It is great way to find the stories and lost relatives that are just waiting to be discovered.

A certain book informs me that a couple, named Adam and Eve, were my ancestors. What kind of dysfunctional family was that?

JohnB said...

I dunno Del, do you have an Uncle Seth then?

Hey, Eff...
I hope you and George enjoy your vacation, Vancouver Island and BC, I hear are very nice, any signs of Autumn up there yet?

Tommy said...

Desparate Dan & She wouldd send me
fab. stuff like Superman & Marvel comics. It was wonderful to finally meet her.

JohnB said...

I didn't know girls read Desperate Dan, or Superman comics.
I thought they read Beryl the Peril or Keyhole Kate comics.

Tony Blair is in Chicago today giving a lecture, my wife's was invited and has gone to see him.

Lest we forget it's nine eleven today, the anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack in New York, we knew a lot of people who lost their lives on that day.

The luckier ones that survived relive the trauma of it still today.

Hi Tommy,
It's a great book and a fantastic read. Thanks to all those involved in it's production.
I agree about the unsung heros. Doctor Lasnick & Doctor Avramov where great Doctors.
Jim Davis and you mentioned Ernie Ball,he was another great man. I remember Ernie coaching Hanwell Boxing Club,at the old Cuckoo School. They used to have some boxing tournaments on Saturday evenings,They would be boxing against verious clubs, such as your old club Hoover's,Napier's and Repton, to name just a few.A gang of us used to support the Hanwell Club.My dad's first love was boxing and he knew Ernie Ball from his drinking days at the White Hart.He and Ernie would chat about the good old days.My dad came from Tylerstown in the Ronda Valley South Wales. It was the same place that Jimmy Wilde who was fly weight champion of the world in the 1920's.My dad was Jimmy's brother's best mate.I will bring a photo of Jimmy to the reunion.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
Regards Derek Applin.

Hi Yvonne you should have spoke up sooner,Jackie told me you ordered them in March in your old age they say the memory goes first. She has mailed two lapel pins to you today ,hopefully you will recieve before the Reunion the way the Royal Mail works.Great to see your younger brother paul on the site he brings a nice perspective to the group being a generation behind us.

Tommy said...

Yes Derek,Earnie was a big influence on my life as a teenager,he taught me to box when I was around 12 years old and he was in my corner when I become the Middlesex schoolboy champion when I was only 14 years old,he trained me right up to when I went into the army where I had a lot of bouts during my two years doing my national service.I lost touch with Earnie when I came out as I was married within 6 months and gave up boxing.Does anyone know what year he died as he never was married when I knew him.

Val B said...

Didn't realise you were that way Tommy but good that you "came out" in the end!
Hi everyone, back from my wanderings now and have spent the last hour catching up on our website. Will start contributing again soon.

Tommy said...

Hi Val,not sure where I came out from but welcome back we missed you, hope you had a good holiday ,where did you go the Lake District.

Val B said...

Hi Tom, we went to France and Northern Spain and had a great time. Expect you will be leaving soon to come over for the reunion? Hope to see you at The Crown but if not we will see you on the 26th.

jim davis said...

I suppose we must be thankfull it is not clashing with a holiday you have planned Valb. We wouldn't want that to happen now would we?

Val B said...

If you must know jim davis, we deliberately booked an earlier holiday this year, just so we could meet you lot again on the 26th. And thats all the thanks we get, a rude message from jd! Grr!

Val B said...

Started back to my keep fit class this week and I am aching just a bit. Must be getting old.

jim davis said...

Valb I don't know how you can possibly think mine was a rude message. You are seeing something that is not there. Honest would I lie to you? With re' to your aches and pains when does one go from getting old, to old.

jim davis said...

Maybe when it takes all night to do what you used to do all night. That might be a good indication.

Well today is the big day, 25th Sept. and the day of the reunion. Noticed how the chat room has gone silent for the last few days probably in preparation of the big event.
Let us that are left behind know what happened etc.
We are anxious to know.

Val B said...

Hello Eff. Yes the big day is now here. Last night was the meeting up again for some of us at The Crown pub. Edna, Frank and I went along and enjoyed a few hours with Tommy, Jackie, Peter, Eileen, Albert and a few others. We are looking forward to tonight although Edna and I need to rest as we have been busy marking up tombola prizes all morning for another charity event. (Not Blind Bowlers this time). I think a glass of wine to help us relax is needed!

Hi eff It seems strang not to have anyone on site. It is 9=30pm on Sat night and am wishing I could be at the reunion. I bet they are having a great time. I just got in from the hospital I have been there since 7am Ken is quite confused, his blood pressure keeps dropping so they are monitoring him all the time. Time will tell he has had 3 litres of blood. as his count went down to 6.7. will keep in touch

So nice for me to meet with the Bolton sisters and also Robert Pearson, neither of whome I had seen in over 50 years, Beryl, just as beutiful as ever she was. does the name Ayers come to mind Beryle?
Many past memories talked about, sadly the evening passed all to quickly.
Yvonne, I was so much looking forward to meeting with you and sympathise for the reason of not making it and wish Ken a speedy recovery.
Watch this space for October chat room, I'm sure will be good reading with all the comments of yesterday evening.

Hi there very good organise party. but sad to say i did not know anyone. from the years i was at the estate from 1940 to 1968.Most of the people who was there was older than me. The ladys who were at the reuion had there married names.Maybe next time you have a reuion they could have there maiden names on there pins. Iwas hoping to see Jean russel. and dot prioyer. As i used to play with them. from 1940 to 1955. Sad none of the lads i knew then, maybe not on the site. All those i met was very frendly.Thank you for a very good evening.

Beryl said...

Hi George, great to see you althro I still could'nt remember you from my UD days.It was nice to see pictures of an older Fred Kemsly. My husband popped in about 11 ish with an offer of a lift home you were up having a dance so Carole and I crept off quetly as I had'nt met anyone else I knew.As Ted Baker and my daugher said when we arrived ladies should have our single names on our name tags.I really don't know lots of people I went to Hobbanye School and not many Cukooites went there I'm sure my sister would know more as she went to Brentside will try to get her to come next time. All for now
