Virus alert

HI ALL THIS was sent to me by our son who is in charge of the computers for the state of Florida -- whenever he receives anything like this it is a warning to the State as well as all us little people --

VERY IMPORTANT , PLEASE READ THIS

Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on..   This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton Please send it to everybody you know who has Access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'Mail Server Report' If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful...'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your Name, e-mail and password.   This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.   AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES.

John I would if you have not done so, to have a word on the telephone with your son. I got two emails from cuckooites this week, but it was not them. Someone somehow managed to send emails using their email address's. I have just been on the snopes website, and there is no mention of the warning you are talking about. But there is a very, very similar one that they say is a fake. My advice for what it is worth is for everyone to get into the habit of not opening attachments in emails. It is not good enough to say I know the person that sent it. The question is do you know the person that sent it to them, and so on. I think not, so I know it is tempting but do not open them.

Very good advice Jim,many of our visitors are not computer savy and need to know these things before opening emails from people or places.

I had a couple of emails from a friend (not a cuckooite) recently.
It was her name but I could tell right away that it was spam by the subject description, plus I knew that she was on holiday and away from her computer, so I was safe in trashing it.
Be careful who you give your email address to.
You can always email your friend to see if they sent it before you open it if you are not sure.
I think some companies can resell your email, and your list of friends if it's on it, addresses to marketers without your knowledge.

Something else to consider if people keep sending me emails that have links, and attachments, and have not taken any notice when I ask them not to. I can either bounce it straight back to them, or mark emails from them as junk. You can probably do the same.To help keep each others computers safe it does not take long to tell a person what you want to send as an attachment. Then they will know it is just from you, and not some joke that has been to no end of people all over the world.
