No sight or sound from Freddie and his Duck. Maybe they got off the plane, took a look at the weather, and got back on again. Or, perhaps, they've given Blighty a miss and headed straight to Portugal. That sounds better.

Del,knowing Freddy i bet him and the misses are doing a walk about somewhere,I am sure they will have you over for shrimp on the barbie.

Tommy, every time the 'phone rings I think it might be Freddie, but it's usually people calling about the begging letters and will I stop sending them. As for Oz, we've recently been invited over there by some friends of the lovely Charlotte, but Ravishing Ruth, my medic, would have a blue fit, so no barbies for me.

Hope the new casa hunting is going well.

Hi Del I know freddie has a couple of weeks at the end of his holiday back in London so he might get in touch then. He does't fly home until mid October.

Del said...

Thanks, Sally. Freddie did send me a schedule of his travels but then wrote to say that his brothers illness had meant a slight change in plans. Anyway, we'll see how it goes.

Good to see that you met up with some buddies, then got home in time for the rally. That must have livened the town up a bit.

Good day guys fro the intrepid Freddie Reese and his "duck" . A very tight schedule has kept us busy although Del I did try calling the phone number you gave me earlier in AUgust, without success!,

As Sally said we leave for Portugal on MOnday 1st Octvober for 12 days so we WILL catch up my friends before leaving the wet and windswept shores of dear old blighty.. We were so close to your place Sally when we had a whistle stop couple of days in Seaton Devon but I mislaid your phone number!! Mobile and email access has not always been possible for us but we will try posting some pics when we are able to settle in one place without having to live out of a suit case.

Good to hear that Tommy and Sue had a great time and that Angela and Ron are both well.

Keep well my friends and we hope to catch up soon.

Freddie

Sorry we missed your call, Freddie. It's pretty rare for the lovely Charlotte and me to be out at the same time, a classic example of sods law, I guess. Anyway, we hope the trip to Portugal goes well and you get to stock up on some serious sunshine.

Tommy said...

How about sardines I think they come from Portugal if i remember as a kid reading the cans.Have a great trip Freddy i hope the weather has been kind to you.We are still enjoying great weather here in the Northwest but we will need some rain and a good snowfall this winter or we will be in a world of hurt next year.Moving into our new home next month a lovely three bedroom bungalow with no stairs that will be a treat with two knees replacements.

Del said...

Hope the reloc goes smoothly. I know what you mean when you mention stairs, of the lack of.

When we came back from Italy we had a cottage with a spiral staircase. The lovely Charlotte missed a step one night, fell backwards and I broke her fall, she broke my leg. When I was released from hospital my GP. who weighed about seventeen stone, came to visit me and suggested that we move to a bungalow, more because he was terrified of climbing the spiral.

I hope this site doesn't have to close. I would love to see some of the other members on here. Jim Davis et al. I love the banter and the humour from all of you. Tommy, I think you have done a wonderful job for many years and I know we all appreciate what you have done. I get on Facebook myself mainly to speak to family and friends but Cuckooites takes me back to my roots and nowhere else can I get that.

Jack Fender said...

Close the site, that would be a shame.I don't comment a lot but I visit pretty much every week. Whats up Tommy that the site will close?

Del said...

Dot and Jack, it's because people only contribute to the site when they think that it will close. Over the years we have pretty well exhausted our childhood memories of the Cuck, but it would still be nice to hear where people are and what they are doing these days. Tommy and Sue obviously have enough to do with their move to a new location, but there must be plenty of us out there who are doing interesting things, so let's hear about them.

Tommy said...

Jack it will not close,it will always be there but with no one interest in contributing it will become a total bore.As Del has mentioned we have exausted our old memory's of the estate you can find them in our older years,we need a fresh aproach and to be honest I have run out of ideas.
Thanks Del and Fred in trying to keep it going we need a lot more Cuckooites to get involved.

Jim Davis said...

Hi Tom you have done a grand job over the years but unfortunately the site changed from somewhere people could go to and have a laugh, as well as talk about serious subjects. The banter that sometimes went on, on occasion made people laugh that were not even involved, though they were most welcome to join in I they wanted to. Everybody I am sure has a view on politics and religion, but both of those seemed to be off limits because some people did not like it. My view of what the site should have been, and was to some extent originally was. Within certain boundaries talk about anything and if there is something you don't like, well then don't read it. This is going to sound rude but that is not my intention. As people drifted away from the site Tommy and Freddie amongst others sent in very nice photo's etc to try and keep it interesting, and to some extent it was. But there was nothing a person could say about them really except oh! they are nice. So in my opinion Cuckooites has become a site where people pat each other on the back saying how good they are and not much else. It is probably over a year since I put anything on here even though from time to time I look in. That is because I've seen nothing that interested me enough for me to do so. I wonder how many other people can relate to my comments, or perhaps I am the only one.

Hi Jim,good to hear from you,yes the site is failing to deliver what people want our other site on facebook is very popular with the lady's and i think it is easier for them to post comments to it.We have done every thing we can to keep this site going but it is not appealing for people to take the time to comment or contribute ,saying that we still get over 300 visits a week from folks out there how want to visit our past years.I hope you and the misses are happy in life and are enjoying these golden years as Sue and I are.

Take care my friend and thanks for the support you have given me in the past.

Thanks for your email, this morning, Tommy. It turned out that I had made a typo when I sent Fred my 'phone number, but he managed to sort that out and he and Jennie arrived here at midday, after a pretty clear run from Northolt.

What a great couple, so easy to get along with and I really felt we were old mates, despite never having met them before, but just on the site or the odd email. They kept us amused with their adventures in Portugal and we spent an hour at a local pub before returning to the casa for a few more hours of chatter and laughs.

Unfortunately, my camera acted up so we had to make do with Fred's. He said that he will post the results when he gets back to warmer Oz. The lovely Charlotte and I had both been a bit under the weather for the past few days but their company was a real tonic, we were only sorry that we couldn't have spent more time with them.

Tommy said...

Del really glad you two and the lovely Lady's managed to get together,I wish I could have been with you as well.Looking forward to seeing the photo's .Take care my friend.

Well I will add a comment to prove that I am alive and well (pinch, pinch). Smashing seeing you Jim back and in the past if we haven't all seen eye to eye at least we was contributing to the site, and as you said if something offends then we don't have to answer but best to ignore.
As for my news, I have booked Geo and I on a cruise in April going from Florida to NY city, Azores, Lisbon, La Caruna Spain, DOVER!!!!, then touring Germany for 5 days. Getting these bones excited especially about seeing the Azores (where we lived for 2 years) and my England again.
Here in Alaska the weather has turned bitter cold and the snow is slowly creeping down Mount McGinnis out back,it's time to search for warmer climes again.
Cheers!

Forgot to mention that we had two earthquakes last evening, one of which was felt by a few here in the valley, however it was quite far away off of the Queen Charlotte Islands in BC Canada. Craig Alaska was the closest town that was in danger of the Tsunami that never happened (thank goodness) with even Hawaii taking precautions.
