Dear Mr Baker,

On World Toilet Day, you stood up for 1.25 billion women. You helped us do something we'd never done before and couldn't have done without you – you highlighted the hidden story of the shame and fear suffered by 1 in 3 women worldwide who have nowhere safe to go the toilet.

Over 4,700 of you urged governments to keep their promises to provide the world's poorest people with safe toilets and clean water. More than 400 of you passed on our World Toilet Day film to your MPs to put toilets back on the agenda and make politicians think of sanitation with a renewed sense of urgency. 3,000 of you also shared the film with your friends to spread the word.

You've shone a light on the human misery caused by the lack of this basic necessity. You helped tell the untold story of women like Sandimhia and Katherine.

Thanks to you we can show Justine Greening, the new International Development Secretary, how many people are waiting for the fulfilment of the Government's promise to reach 60 million people with water and sanitation at our very first meeting.

Thank you again for all your support.

With best wishes,

Rebecca Owen

PS A Westminster debate has been tabled for Monday to discuss access to sanitation as an urgent issue. Please ask your MP to attend.

Laura's story shows the difference you make:

"I am very happy to have this latrine. Since now forever I will have somewhere to go to the latrine and I will be covered when defecating. There is never a good time to defecate. When I need to go I just go. Yes, a lot of people just passing have seen me! We have no woods to hide ourselves. I am very grateful for the latrine." Laura, Mozambique
