Good day Zoe.

I remember Doris well, her brother Joe(Denis)and I were good friends growing up on the Cuckoo estate.

Joe and I used to baby sit her children and listen to her partners Italian Henrico Caruso records.

Joe now lives in NSW Austrlia and I live in Perth Western Australia.

Are you related to Doris.?

Best wishes, Freddie

Hi there, my name is now Margaret Medina and I was Margaret Bodman, with a brother David who went to Bordeston school.

I was wondering if I could be added as an honorary member. I lived the other side of Hanwell in St. Dunstan's Road and went to St. Annes from St. Marks Junior school. Most of the girls in my class came from the 'cuckoo' area and I sat next to Marlene Cooney in my last year in 1959. Some of the other names in my class (A stream) I remember are Dawn Hammett, Margaret Smith, Pat Binding, Rosa Trustam, Beryl Martin, & Daphne Fothergill. Other christian names: Eileen and Pam but can't remember their surnames.

I spent a couple of years on my bike 'chasing' some of the boys who lived on the estate who were in the Boys Brigade from the Baptist church in Westminster Road, where I was in the girls guildry. I also spent quite a few cold, wet Saturday's watching them play football in Ravenor Park - must have been mad.

Early teens were spent over 'Churchfields' or the bunny park where we played baseball with Brian Poole, Barry, Paul, Geoff Cnudde, Bernard Pettifor and Norman who lived in what the estate agents now call 'Poets Corner' so that would be Browning, Milton and Shakespear Roads.

Life progressed from Hanwell Community Centre, watching 5 a-side football, to The White Hart, Southall and Shackleton Hall (The Shack) and Sunday dancing after the flicks, at Southall Community Centre.
The highlight of my year was the fair in Southall Park to the music of our beloved Rock and Roll.

Anyway, those are my credentials.

Best wishes with the site, it brought back a lot of good memories.

Margaret x

I knew Doris Clancy/Ellingham. She lived in the flat below us in Brants Walk before they moved to Bordars Walk (I think). I used to play with Olive and Paul and I think a couple of the younger ones too.

My younger brother Ian Mathieson passed away today. He was born in 1951 and would have been 62 in December. He had the early onset of dementia and had also been suffering for some years with Ankylosing Spondilitis and Arthritis. I don't know if anyone on here would remember him as he left Brants Walk in 1963. He went to Brentside and had been at Drayton Manor Grammar School.

Hi Margaret (Bodman), I am sure I was in your class at St. Anne's and remember lots of the names you mention. I have a photo taken in our last year end of term and you are on the photo along with Daphne Fothergill, Beryl Martin etc. My name was Pat Camble and I lived off the Greenford Avenue. Do not know if you will remember me at all. Enjoyed reading all of your memories, good to look back on.

Most of the Cuckooites have gone to the Facebook site. This site has kind of gone obsolete in the past couple of years. Just click on Cukooites on Facebook and you will find some of the old hands.
